Emily E. (LaMountain) Gove, age 69, of Norton passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton.
She was the beloved wife and best friend of retired Norton Fire Lieutenant Richard H. Gove, to whom she was married on February 23, 1963.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on December 15, 1943, she was a daughter of the late George and Mildred (Atchison) LaMountain. She grew up and was educated in Pawtucket.
Mrs. Gove had made her home in Norton for the past 50 years and prior to retiring, had worked as a clerk for 40 years at Leach & Garner, in the companies North Attleboro plant.
Emily was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. Her favorite times spent were camping trips with her family and traveling; which included cruises and trips with her husband by way of motorcycle.
Mrs. Gove was an avid New England sports fan of which the Boston Red Sox was her favorite team to cheer on. Another highlight of her life was on her fiftieth birthday when she had the opportunity to fulfill her dare devil side by sky diving.
In addition to her beloved husband of over 50 years, she is survived by her devoted children; Donna J. Gove of Norton, Raymond R. Gove of Somerset and the late Richard H. Gove, Jr. She was the dear sister of Russell LaMountain of Pawtucket, RI, Robert LaMountain of Sterling, Edward LaMountain of Florida, William LaMountain of Cumberland, RI, Joseph LaMountain of Florida, Everett LaMountain of Pawtucket, RI, Edith Agin of Pawtucket, and the late Mary Beauchamp. She was the adoring grandmother of Daniel R. Placido and Delaney J. Gove and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, December 2nd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Center Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 1st from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St.(Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.), Norton.
In lieu of flowers. Emily’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Community Visiting Nurse Agency, Inc., 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703
