Obituary

WORCESTER: Rose E. (Butler) Giardiello, 87, formerly of Uxbridge St., died peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Autumn Village.
Her husband of 61 years, Francis X. Giardiello, died October 12, 2009. She leaves a son, Francis X. Giardiello and his wife Lisa of Woodstock, CT; a daughter, Gail F. Puente of Worcester; two brothers, Raymond Butler Of Maryland, William Butler of New York; 4 grandchildren, Justine M. Pulaski and her husband Michael, Joellen E. Andrews and her husband James, all of Rutland, Julianne M. Kozak and her husband Paul of Spencer, Anthony F. Puente and his wife Heather of Worcester; 7 great grandchildren, Logan Puente, Erin and Cooper Andrews, Leah Rose and Caleb Kozak, Tanner and Cole Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Henry, Albert and Joseph; and two sisters, Louise and Marion, all predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Frederick H. and Dora (Lapierre) Butler. She graduated from Anacosta High School and the Catholic University School of Nursing, both in Washington, DC.
After Rose graduated from college as a registered nurse, she was a member of the Army Corps of Nurses during World War II. She later worked as a private duty nurse for many years. She was a long time active member of Our Lady of Providence Parish, formerly known as St. Bernard’s Parish. She participated in many church variety shows and was a member of the St. Bernardettes and the St. Bernard’s Women’s Bowling League. She had been a Girl Scout Leader, a member and Past President of the Harlow Street School PTA and a member of the Emblem Club. She also participated in a Women’s Health Initiative Dietary Study from 1995 to 2004. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening.
The family would like to express most sincere thanks to the staff of Autumn Village for the years of dedicated service they provided to Rose.
There are no calling hours. After cremation, a FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A.M. on FRIDAY, MAY 17 at OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE PARISH, 228 Lincoln St., followed by burial in St. John’s Cemetery. To share your thoughts and memories with the family on-line, please visit www.kellyfuneralhome.com
