Ann B. Powers (McGowan) of Canton, formerly of Norwood and West Roxbury, died April 6, 2013 following a brief illness. She was 85 years old.
Born in Boston she attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Jamaica Plain. She enjoyed summering in West Dennis with her family.
She moved to Canton in 1986 and worked as a bookkeeper for Bowden Company and later for Sandeev Company for many years. She was an accomplished organist and as a young woman played throughout the local area.
After retirement she became a receptionist at the Charwell Nursing Home in Norwood. Ann was hard working and enjoyed reading, sewing, and the ocean. She was proud of, and dedicated to her children.
Devoted wife of the late John F. Powers. Loving mother of Linda Alger of Centerville, Janet Dorrwachter and her husband David of Dedham, Dianne Kewriga and her husband Patrick of Stoughton, Kevin Powers and his wife Lori of Norwood, and the late John F. Powers. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home 210 Sherman St. Canton, Monday from 4-7 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Interment St. Mary’s cemetery.
