Richard W. Bruso

CHICOPEE - Richard W. Bruso, 82, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett West in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving wife, Joan and his wonderful caregivers. He was born in Springfield on August 11, 1930, a beloved son of the late Joseph F. and Isabelle L. (Cody) Bruso. He was raised and schooled in Springfield and moved to Chicopee in the mid 1940's. He was employed for 40 years as a counter salesman at United Plumbing Supplies on Hickory Street in Springfield and retired in 2000. He was a life member of the Springfield Kennel Club and the Western Mass Shetland Sheepdog Club. He was also a past member of the Directors Unit of the Melha Shrine in Springfield. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by: his loving sons, Paul Bruso who was Called Home in March of 1998 and Richard S. Bruso who was Called Home in June of 2004; his dear sister-in-law, Lois Hoch; and his dear brother-in-law, Calvin C. Coburn. He leaves: his devoted wife and best friend of 39 years, Joan C. (Coburn) Bruso; his children, Randall Bruso of Kansas City, KS and Nancy Bruso and her friend, Kathy Taylor, of Bountiful, UT; his daughters-in-law, Robin Bruso and Paula Bruso Hariis, both of Bountiful, UT; his 10 grandchildren; his many great grandchildren; his dear brothers-in-law of the Coburn family, Elmer "Bud" Hoch of Waldoboro, ME and Robert W. Coburn of Daytona Beach, FL; his dear sisters-in-law of the Coburn family, Fern M. Skellings of Waldoboro, ME and Marilyn Coburn of Sebago, ME; and his many nephews, nieces and cousins including, Dorothy Bruso, Robert Bruso and Alan Bruso, all of Springfield. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday morning, January 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.). His burial will follow the Funeral Service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
