Raymond F. Bedard, age 86, of Mansfield passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at home.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy J.(Goyea) Bedard who died on March 7, 2009. Mr. and Mrs. Bedard were wed on February 28, 1948.
Born in Fall River, MA on March 7, 1926, he was a dear son of the late Adelard and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Bedard.
Ray spent his early childhood living in Boston. At age ten, his family moved to Foxboro where continued growing up and was a graduate of Foxboro High School. During WWII, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He later graduated from Northeastern University.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Bedard had been employed for 40 years at the Foxboro Co. Throughout his career he worked at both plants in Foxboro and East Bridgewater and retired as a project manager. He was also a member of the Foxboro Co. 40 year club.
Ray was a model plane enthusiast and a member of the Lazy Loopers Flying Club in Wrentham. He was also a member of the Foxboro YMCA and was a former Ham Radio Operator.
Mr. Bedard was an avid New England Patriots fan and for many years was a season ticket holder. He was very up to date on current affairs and enjoyed engaging in a good political conversation.
He and his late wife Dorothy enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad and spending the winter months in Florida. He had made his home in Mansfield for over 60 years.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Valerie J. Terenzi and her husband Ed of Mansfield and Donna M. Jackson and her husband Ray of Norton. He was the brother of Joseph Bedard of Pennsylvania and is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kristen Masiello and her husband Jason, Jennifer Izzo and her husband Dan, Paul Terenzi and his wife Jaime, Brian Jackson and his wife Kelly and Kelly Jackson and her partner Rachael Guay and great grandchildren, Jess, Derek, Ryenne, Will, Nolan, Alex and Marissa.
Funeral Services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, December 31st at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 30th from 1:00-4:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Raymond’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Salvation Army,281 Main St., Brockton, MA 02301.
