Obituary

Barbara Grace (Galbraith) Lloyd of Stoughton, formerly of Canton, passed away in Brockton on Saturday December 15, 2012. She was 73 years old and the beloved wife of Joseph V. Lloyd. She is survived by her 2 loving children, Donna (Lloyd) Ayers and her husband Christopher Ayers of Stoughton and Scott G. Lloyd and his companion Grace Chandonnet also of Stoughton. Other survivors include her 7 grandchildren, Richard R. Lloyd, Morgan R. Ayers, Rhiannon E. Ayers, Liam J. Ayers, David Harmon Jr. , Cynthia Harmon, Robert Harmon, her sister Joan (Galbraith) Harmon of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.

Born May 7, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts Barbara was a daughter to the late Ethyl Ruby (Simons) and Clyde H. Galbraith. She attended Canton Public Schools and was a 1957' graduate of Canton High School. She also received her Master’s Degree in education from Cambridge College. Mrs. Lloyd was employed as a Social Studies Teacher at Plymouth High School for 28 years.

She was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church in Easton. She was also a member of the JCC/ YMCA in Stoughton where she enjoyed running 5k road races and swimming. For many years Barbara was the swimming director at Ames Pond in Stoughton. She taught both lifesaving and swimming programs ( Adapted Aquatics) on Saturday’s for many of the area's handicapped children.

Her hobbies included sports and attending her grandchildren’s music recitals, soccer games, football games, field hockey matches, tennis matches, baseball and basketball games. Barbara loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit China, Ghana, England, Belize, Turkey, Greece and many of the other U.S. states.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday December 20, 2012 from 5 – 7:30 P.M. with a funeral service to follow at 8 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. A graveside service will be held on Friday December 21, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. NOTE: FUNERAL PROCESSION TO LEAVE FUNERAL HOME AT 10:15 A.M. All are welcome to attend.
