Mary (JoAnn) Elizabeth Hrzic (nee Mangold), a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend, died on October 9, 2012 from complications due to metastatic brain cancer. Born and raised in Baltimore, Mary was the daughter of the late Henry Mangold and Loretta Blaney. She graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1963, and spent many years working as a bookkeeper and junior accountant. She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Edward Hrzic, and her loving daughters, Julia Ann Hrzic and Christine Hrzic Taylor and her husband Brian. Her memory will live on through her cherished granddaughters, Anna Elizabeth Taylor, Caroline Theresa Taylor and Katherine Sophia Taylor. Mary was a loving sister to her seven siblings; Harry Mangold, Sue Billet, Jean Clifford, Rose Catron, Bernie Erdossy, Beatty Ann Moore and Barbara Massimini. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Mary’s life was filled with joy by her interactions with her family, love for music, talent for gardening, and her attention to nature. She spent numerous hours relaxing on her deck watching and cataloging various types of birds as they came to feeders that she had carefully placed within her yard. Family was the center of her life; she never missed a family event, and her granddaughters were forever on her mind.
A Funeral mass will be held in honor of Mary at St. Marks’ Catholic Church of Fallston on Friday, October 19, at 11a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend the mass; a reception will be held directly following the mass in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to Relay for Life Havre de Grace or to St. Mark’s Catholic Church of Fallston, (2407 Laurel Brook Road, Fallston 21047) in Heather Johnson’s name. Heather is a 40 year old mother of two, Grace (4) and Katie (2) who is battling with stage four colon cancer.
