Obituary

TAUNTON – John Paul “Jack” Gilmore, Sr., husband of Lestyn (Allard) Gilmore of Taunton, died at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Boston on Sept. 11, 2012.
He was 73.
Born in Canton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Murphy) Gilmore.
A 1958 graduate of Boston’s Cathedral High School, Mr. Gilmore later attended Northeastern University.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Formerly of Watertown, and a Taunton resident since 1979, he was employed by the Hallsmith-Sysco Company for thirty-four years as a truck driver, retiring in 2004.
He was a member of the Stoughton Knights of Columbus.
A sports enthusiast, Jack especially enjoyed college football, Notre Dame being his favorite.
For several years, he taught ballroom dancing in surrounding area YMCA’s, and later enjoyed the Deejay roll, playing dance music for his many followers.
Jack was a kindhearted man who loved his family and friends; and his two cats, Parker and Jackie.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, John Paul Gilmore, Jr. and his wife Sherry of Cropseyville, NY; a brother, Joseph P. Gilmore of Canton; four grandchildren, Patricia Gilmore of Nashville, TN, John Paul Gilmore, III of Norton, Robin Gilmore of Nashville, TN, and Stephen Gilmore of Norton; a great grandson, Jacob Gilmore of Norton; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Sept. 15th at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Centre Cemetery, Wareham.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday Sept. 14th from 5 to 8 p.m.
