Eugene Charles Luschei, 84, of Truro died Tuesday September 4, 2012 at Seashore Point in Provincetown after a period of declining health. Born in Kimball, Nebraska on June 17, 1928, He was the son of the late Erich and Helen (Mills) Luschei. Mr. Luschei had been a resident of Truro for over 30 years. He spent vacation time and summers there until moving permanently following his retirement approximately 20 years ago. He was a retired Professor of Philosophy having taught for many years at Brown University in Rhode Island.
Dr. Luschei completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska and received his PhD from Oxford University in England. His degree was awarded in 1964. He was a man who cultivated and enjoyed his leisure time. He was an avid reader who appreciated the arts, especially poetry and classical music. Many will remember his informative weekly radio program of classical music aired on WOMR in Provincetown.
Among his survivors are his brother Martin Luschei of San Luis Obispo, CA, his sister, Joan Rathbun of Eaton Prairie, MN, his 3 nieces Nancy Beauman, Kathleen Millstrom and Gabriella Luschei and his two nephews, Thomas and Erich Luschei. He was the uncle of the late Linda Luschei who died in 1993.
