WILBRAHAM – Charles C. LaLiberte, Jr., 89, of Wilbraham and a former resident of the East Springfield section of Springfield, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. He was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on August 9, 1923 a son of the late Dr. Charles LaLiberte Sr. and Esther (Tattan) LaLiberte. He was raised in Claremont, New Hampshire and attended Boston College until his service in the United States Navy and Fleet Marine Corps during World War II where he was in the Pacific Theater of War Headquarters and served as a Pharmacist’s First Mate. He was an assistant manager at Montgomery Ward in both Claremont, NH and in Greenfield, MA and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1981 after 39 years. He then worked for the United States Postal Service for ten years. He was a charter member of the Western Massachusetts Dog Club and an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying hunting and fishing with his friends, his son, Tom, and his grandsons. He was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Men’s Club. He was the Director of Religious Education and an adult religious education instructor for those wishing to enter the Catholic Faith. He was honored to receive the Pope Pius X Award in 2001 for his dedicated service in religious education. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in- law, Robert Morley; his sister, Justine LaLiberte; and his brother, Joseph LaLiberte and his wife, Lea. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 64 years, Phyllis (Bailey) LaLiberte. He also leaves behind his son, Thomas C. LaLiberte and his wife, Elizabeth, of Duxbury, MA and their son, Charles LaLiberte and his wife, Elizabeth; his daughter, Anne Morley of Raynham, MA and her children, Erin Hingston, Michael Morley and his wife, Candice, and Sarah Amesley and her husband, Chris; his daughter, Jane LeBlanc and her husband Paul, of Selkirk, NY and their children, Daniel LeBlanc and his wife, Jennifer, Timothy LeBlanc and his wife, Tara, and Andrew LeBlanc; his daughter, Carol LaLiberte and her husband, Phil Faulstich, of Wilbraham and their son, Andrew Faulstich; his eight great grandchildren; and his many nephews and nieces. His family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning, September 6, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial with Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His family has requested that memorial donations in his memory be made to the Mary, Mother of Hope Church Improvement Fund, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104.
