Evelyn (Oliveira) Ledo passed away peacefully on July 28th at the Catholic Memorial Home. She previously lived at Lafayette Place in Fall River. She was the wife of the late William T. Ledo, daughter of the late Antone T. & Maria (Raposa) Ledo, and mother of Kathleen Ledo of Eastport, NY and the late Michael Ledo. She was the sister of Sister Laura Oliveira of Medford NY, Aldina Vital of Fall River and Ellie Remington of
Vernon, CT. and the late Joseph Oliveira, Mary Pavao, Gilbert Oliveira, and a brother Antone and sister Barbara that she lost in early childhood. Evelyn also leaves her godchild Barbara Hassan who was devoted to her care and well-being in the last several years and several nieces & nephews.
Prier to retiring, Evelyn worked for over 25 years at the Royal Garment Co. as a sewing machine operator. She was a volunteer for Hospice for many years, and visited patients and families during their final days of life. She later continued to volunteer in the office with a small group of friends. Evelyn was a Marian Medal recipient, a member & a Eucharistic Minister of Notre Dame Parish in Fall River, enjoyed singing in the choir, was a member of the women's guild, and taught CCD. The highlight of her day was attending daily mass and sharing devotion with her friends at the parish. Evelyn was also member of the I.L.G.W.U. and volunteered at the Westport Seniors Center meals on wheels program.
A visitation for family & friends will be held on WEDNESDAY beginning at 9:00 A.M. in the Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Ave., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. in the Chapel. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME.
