James E. Layden, age 72 of Salem, NH, died March 21 at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA.
He was born in Newton, MA, where he grew up and attended schools. He was a resident of Salem for the past 18 years, formerly of Watertown, MA.
Mr. Layden was aself employed painter. He was a US Army veteran, and enjoyed weight lifting, fishing, and reading.
He was predeceased by his daughter: Kim Young
He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Patricia (Anderson) Layden of Salem, NH

Graveside services will be held at the VA National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
