Obituary

Herbert T. Stone, Jr., 77, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus with family at his side. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Doris L. (Kester) Stone; 2 sons and 2 daughters, Kim Stone of Pennsylvania, Herbert T. Stone III of Worcester, Deborah Barrett of Grafton, and Scott F. Stone of New York; and 9 grandchildren, Valene, Kerry, Matthew, Rachel, George, Scotty, Alex, Kelsey and Leah.

Herbert was born in Philadelphia, PA, son of Thelma (Weber) and Herbert T. Stone, Sr. Herbert enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1957. He served in Sector Lake Michigan at Station Charlevoix and Light Station Presque Isle. After his service, Herbert worked at various companies in Pennsylvania. He and Doris moved their family to Massachusetts, and he worked at North American Phillips in Lynn and retired from Simco Design and Development in Worcester. He was a model railroad and car enthusiast.

A private calling hour and funeral service will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 22, at 10:30 am. Rev. Ron Wilson of Greendale People's Church will officiate. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MA Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
