DUDLEY – Raymond E. “Ray” Standrowicz, 82, of Dudley, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Webster Manor surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Marjorie C. (Arel) Standrowicz; 2 sons, Michael R. Standrowicz of Webster and Steven P. Standrowicz and his wife Donna of Hermosa Beach, CA; 2 daughters, Cheryl A. Kopas and her husband Jan of Worcester and Lisa J. Lavoie and her husband Brian of Dudley; 6 grandchildren, Garrett and Chad Standrowicz, Jan Adam and Anthony Kopas, and twins Katie and Eric Lavoie; a sister, Alice Pakulski of Holden; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Standrowicz of Sturbridge.
He was born in the Jericho section of Dudley, a son of Lawrence and Helen (Moskal) Standrowicz and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Bartlett High School.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Standrowicz first worked at Pratt-Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. He then was the circulation manager for the Telegram & Gazette’s Webster Office. He was a postal carrier in Webster for many years retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Church and the Polish American Veterans. He enjoyed sports. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and working in his yard
The family would like to thank his primary care physician Dr. Jerry Gurwitz as well as the staff at Webster Manor for their compassionate care and concern for Raymond.
The funeral will be held Friday, March 23, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster.
The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will perform the military honors at the cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday, March 22, in the funeral home.
