Obituary

Mrs. Karin J. (Tompkinson) Kantelis, of Taunton, died Sunday, March 18 in the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Richard N. Kantelis. She was born 63 years ago in Germany, the daughter of Ingeberg (Hedwig) Tompkinson and the late John Tompkinson. She was educated in Newton and had been a Taunton resident for the past 14 years. She was employed at the D’Angelo’s Sandwich Shop in Mansfield for over 25 years. Karin enjoyed playing Keno and scratch tickets, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, of Taunton, and her mother, of Florida, she leaves: 2 sons: Neil Kantelis and his wife, Tara of Swansea, and David Kantelis and his wife, Elizabeth of Mansfield; 1 daughter: Kathy Deegan of Fall River; 2 stepsons: Richard Hayes and his wife, Julie, and David Hayes both of Minnesota; 2 brothers: Jackie Tompkinson and his wife, Gloria of Hudson, and Jimmy Tompkinson and his wife, Christine of Arizona; 3 sisters: Debbie McCurry and her husband, Jim of Florida, Rosie Nichols and her fiance, Charles Dacus of Medfield, and Inge Aylsworth and her husband, John of No. Carolina; 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Karin was also the mother of the late Paul Deegan, Jr.
A Visitation will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, March 24 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Relatives and friend are invited to attend.
