Michael P. "Bolo" Donahue, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a short illness. He was 63 years old.
Mike was born in Boston on October 6, 1948 to the late Edward L. and Elizabeth V. (Mahoney) Donahue. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and then graduated from Boston Latin High School in 1966 where he excelled in swimming and diving. Mike was awarded a full 4 year scholarship to Yale University for his excellence in diving and swimming and graduated in 1970 with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. Mike has been working as a Human Resource Manager at Joseph Barrell Plumbing Company in Cambridge for the last 5 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing and his camp fires.
Mike is the beloved husband of 31 years to Shauna R. (Toomey) Donahue. He is the devoted father of Kerrin Donahue of Charlestown, Courtney Donahue of Charlestown, Michael P. Donahue of Charlestown and Timothy Donahue and his wife Shauna of Derry, New Hampshire. He is the loving Grandpa to Molleigh and Taelyn. He is the beloved brother of Mary Costa and her late husband Jay of Georgetown, Katie Horgan and her husband Kevin of Haverhill and Edward Donahue and his wife Janet of Charlestown.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Mike on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His Funeral Services and interment will be strictly private.
