Obituary

Algimantas Reivitis

Al passed away peacefully March 16, 2012 at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital. Al was born in Kaunas Lithuania on May 29, 1943. He was the only child of the late Antanina and Vytautas Reivytis. He was an extremely interesting man and will be sadly missed by all who came to know him and call him “friend”. In particular, his loss will be deeply felt by his cousin Regina Giniotis and her family, Antanas, Lukas and Tomas from Toronto Canada, along with his childhood and lifelong friends Saulius and Danguole and their family, along with his “adopted family” in Lithuania…Ina, Jolita, Mindaugas, Kamile and Manglicas, along with his compassionate and devoted friend Shawn and wife Tammy. He leaves behind old friends from Digital, John and Gena, and many others from Snap Express, his places of work. He will be often thought of and toasted by his many cousins, Algirdas, Daiva, Roma, and uncle Viktoras from Canada, cousins Loreta, Sylvia, Audrone, and aunt Jadvyga from Chicago, cousin Rita from Florida and others from Lithuania, some who knew him and others he sadly never met. Mya and Nova, Al’s cats, will also miss his daily presence.

Al was a very bright minded person with a wry sense of humor, a sensitive soul and a generous spirit. He had a perfectionist’s eye and ear and enjoyed many of the finer things in life. He was a talented photographer and audiophile and enjoyed music, film, art and delectable food. He appreciated craftsmanship in all forms and was an enthusiast of electronics, automotives and carpentry. Many will appreciate the knowledge he passed on to them in the many endeavors he pursued.

Al was a decorated (5 medal) soldier in the U.S. Army – Specialist Four E4 who participated in over 25 aerial missions in Vietnam.

Al will be most remembered as a loving cousin and friend to all who knew him. We would like to thank all the compassionate and caring doctors and nurses and support staff at the Roxbury VA Hospital, the Fisher House Foundation and the personnel of 78C at the Bedford VA. You all worked with such kind hearts to make him comfortable and to help him leave this life with dignity. We thank you from the bottom of our grieving hearts.

Please remember Al in your thoughts and hearts. On line condolences and acts of kindness in his memory will be appreciated.

A graveside internment will take place at the Bourne National Cemetery in late June.
