Obituary

Edward Neil Elliott, 82, of Natick, died unexpectedly at his home on January 24, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Linton) Elliott with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late Frederick and Margaret (Neil) Elliott, Mr. Elliott was raised in Elmira, New York. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 19, 1953 and served honorably with the Co. A 7888 Hq Groups Special Troops until being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on December 24, 1953. He was the recipient of the Army Occupational Medal – Germany and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Elliott earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University in Boston and was employed as a Data Processing Supervisor with the First National Bank of Boston and then Bank of Boston from which he retired in 1989. He was an active member of the Hartford St. Presbyterian Church in Natick where he often assisted in leading worship services since the 1960’s. Mr. Elliott found great satisfaction in completing many Do-It-Yourself projects.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Gail Nelson and her husband Edward of Ayer, Ross Elliott and his wife Maria of Natick, and James Elliott of Michigan; and his cherished grandchildren, Stephen, Christopher, and Brianna. He was the brother of the late Frederick Elliott, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Hartford St. Presbyterian Church, 99 Hartford St., Natick, MA 01760. Rev. Eric Christian Markman will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:30 PM. Visiting hours will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) Natick on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 3-7 PM. Due to the limitation of flowers at MA National Cemetery, donations in Mr. Elliott’s memory may be made to the Hartford St. Presbyterian Church at the above address.
