Rita J. Roy
Longtime Tewksbury Resident
TEWKSBURY: Rita J. (Feran) Roy, a resident of Tewksbury for 62 years, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness.
Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on December 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Frederick J. Feran and the late Blanche (King) Feran.
Rita was educated in St. John, New Brunswick and graduated from their local high school.
She resided in Somerville until moving to Tewksbury in 1950.
Rita was a devout communicant and supporter of St. Williams Parish of Tewksbury.
She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Linda R. Chiozzi and her husband Vincent of Andover; her son, Paul J. Roy and his wife Donna (Camelio) of Tewksbury; three grandchildren, Jennifer M. Bairstow and her husband Scott, Paul V. Chiozzi and Melissa K. Chiozzi; her great grandson, Nathan S. Bairstow; her sister, Anna Kelly of Tewksbury; her brother, William Feran of Tewksbury; also many nieces and nephews.
Rita was the sister of the late Margaret Stevens, Blanche Hanley, James, Herbert, Edgar, Thomas and Elizabeth Feran.
Calling hours will be Monday, Jan. 30, from 5-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 or to the National Shrine of St. Anthony, 100 Arch Street, Boston, MA 02110-1100.
