Obituary

Andrew Thomas McCann, 17, of New Bedford died suddenly on Thursday, January 26, 2012. He was the beloved son of Bruce A. and Susan J. (Caron) McCann.
Andrew was a Senior at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School. He was in the plumbing shop where he was dedicated to learning his trade because of his love for his teachers. At Voc-Tech, he was the Captain of the football team and the baseball team. An active athlete, he was the Standard-Times Unsung Hero in 2011 and received an honorable mention on the Southcoast Conference All-Star Team in 2011. He had been active in Whaling City Youth Baseball, Greater New Bedford Pony League, Greater New Bedford Colt League, and the New Bedford Bears throughout the years. His aspiration was to attend college at American International College in Springfield to major in Business Management with the goal of becoming a vocational teacher.
Andrew was an amazing young man who was loved by all. The following quote from a recent college letter of recommendation from one of his advisors best describes him: "Andrew McCann will succeed at whatever endeavor he pursues because he has the work ethic to set goals and work towards them until he is successful. He has not let anything stop him from getting what he wants in life so far at a very young age."
He is survived by his loving parents, Bruce and Susan; his beloved siblings, Ryan McCann and his fiancee Keli Howard, and Caitlin McCann; his loving aunts and uncles, Debra Caron, Lynn Pires and husband Glenn, Cheryl Methia and husband John, Eric Caron and wife Marie, Michelle Debrosse and husband Randy, who were Andrew's Godparents, and Michael McCann and his wife Darrah; his loving cousins, Jacqueline and Michael Pires, Jordan, Justin, and Jared Methia, Jacob and Tyler Caron, Kirsten, Alexis, Chandler, and Logan Debrosse, Kendra Wingate, and Erin Deckinga.
He was the brother of the late Jennifer McCann, grandson of the late Edmond and Patricia (Bolger) Caron and James F. and Elsie (Souza) McCann, nephew of the late Edmond Caron and Frank McCann, and great-grandson of the late Rose Bolger and Marie Caron.
