Obituary

Anita T. (Rufo) Perreira, age 96, a former longtime resident of Natick, died Friday night, January 20, 2012, at the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge.

Born in Malden on June 1, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Orazio and Carmella (Cetronna) Rufo. She was raised and educated in Wakefield.

Anita married John Thomas Perreira and the couple settled in Natick where she created a warm and loving home for their growing family. After John’s untimely death in 1956, Anita became employed with the New England Robe Company of Natick as a seamstress. Years later she became the mail delivery lady at the Framingham Union Hospital, a job she enjoyed until her retirement.

Devoted to family and her faith, she transferred from Saint Patrick Parish, Natick, to Saint Mary’s Parish after moving to Holliston to be closer to her daughter. Anita was happiest when in the company of her children and their families.

Predeceased by a son, James T. Perreira, she is survived by her daughter, Joann R. Ross and husband Allan of Milford; her son Robert J. Perreira and wife Susan of Millville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Patsy, Daniel, Chester, Henry, and Valentino Rufo, Silvia Zagaria, Jeanette Tropeano, and Bernice Faucher.

Her funeral service will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street (at Natick Common) Natick, on Wednesday, January 25th at 1:00p.m. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday January 24th from 4 – 7p.m.
