Obituary

Roy Vincent Crossman, 91, a resident of Natick, formerly of Arlington, passed away on November 20, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth L. (Gott) Crossman who passed away in 2008.
Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, the son of the late Milledge and Flora (Wright) Crossman, Roy and his siblings came to the United States as young children and were raised by their beloved aunt the late Minnie Munson in Needham. Roy enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1942 and served with the 234th AAF Unit in Po Valley and North Apennines during WWII. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1945. Roy re-enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and served with the 85th Air Transport Squadron at Travis Air Force Base in CA until his honorable discharge with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1953. He was employed as a machinist in the Arlington area, was an amateur HAM radio operator, and enjoyed woodworking. Roy was also a Melchizedek Priest of the Mormon Church.
He was the step-father of Arthur S. Goss, III of Natick, Shoaleh Caton of Grafton, and the late Mark W. Goss; step-grandfather of Arthur S. Goss, IV of TN, Eric C. Goss of FL, Raymond D. Caton of CT, and Mark D. Goss of MT; step-great-grandfather of Maya, Jack, Sari, and Olivia; step-great-great-grandfather of Layton; and uncle of Karen, Nils, Donald, Carol, and Jean.

He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald and his sisters, Kathleen, Mildred, and Dorothy.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 9:30 AM in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 70 Medford St. Arlington, MA.
