Obituary

John C. Ghiringhelli, 100, of Hopedale died October 17 at the Blaire House of Milford. He was the beloved husband of Blanche (Savage) Ghiringhelli for the past 76 years.
Born in Besano, Italy, October 22, 1910, the son of the late Martino and Rosa (Mai) Ghiringhelli, Mr. Ghiringhelli came to America at the age of 1.
He had been a resident of Hopedale for over 60 years.
Mr. Ghiringhelli had been a shoe maker at Herman Shoe Company in Millis for over 50 years. He served as the union president of the United Brotherhood of Shoe workers there for many years.
Mr. Ghiringhelli was a talented musician; he played the drums in local bands until the age of 90.
He had been the President of the Milford Musicians Union.
John loved to work in his garden and enjoyed bowling in the industrial bowling league at the Milford 10 Pins.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Jack Ghiringhelli and his wife Frances of Bethlehem, PA and Charles Ghiringhelli and his wife Mona of Franklin.
He was the brother of the late Frank, Caesar and Charles Ghiringhelli.
He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
His funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 20 in Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Hopedale Village Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
