Mansfield, Ma,
Dear MacCaffrie Family- I had the opportunity to work with Steve when he was on the Municipal Building Committee and when we worked to build the Mansfield Library and Council on Aging. He was always very supportive of the senior citizens in town and for the work that we do here at the Council on Aging. He was a supportive friend and he will be missed. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of the family members during this difficult time.

Dear Kevin, Mary and Family - my sincere and heartfelt sympathies for the loss of your brother, husband and son. It has been many years and I think of you often. Steve's and my paths have crossed a couple of times in the last several years, as Selectman and Moderator of our respective towns. Even though he backed down in his race for moderator, he placed his support for my former DR classmate, Sharon Nowell Friedman. I was expecting to be able to extend my condolences personally this evening, but at the last minute am unable to do so. Please email me. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Our condolences on his passing. Steve was a kind and thoughtful individual. He offered his help when needed. Karen and I will never forget when he opened up his home the night of the fire at our house. He also in his typical fashion told the insurance investigators to take a hike in such a way that they knew they were interfering. I served with Steve on the building committee and he taught me much more than I could ever give back. Steve was very professional in executing his duties.

I grew up practically living in the McCaffrie's Corner Store, I remember when Steve got married to his wife, who I had for a teacher in Norton. They had that cute little grey house on Lakeview Rd and I lived on Highland Rd which is now Rt 495. They are such an awsome family, and Loved by a lot of people. Mrs. McCaffrie was the greatest teacher I had. You are all in my thoughts and in my prayers, Steve was a nice guy.

I did not know Steve but I am a Vietnam Seabee Veteran. I am very proud to read what Steve has done and wanted to say that he is an outstanding Seabee. I know you all will miss him as all of us Seabees will. Rest Assured that he is in God's hands and that his needs will be taken care of as yours will also. I pray that all of you can find some peace in his leaving this earth and going to his heavenly home knowing how good of a man and Seabbe he was. Stay strong in your beliefs and endeavors and know that your Seabee family is with you.

Whitestone, NY,
Dear MacCaffrie Family: We are all saddened by Steve's passing. He was a great friend and a huge asset to the Seabee Museum. His multiple talents came to us when we needed them most. Thank you for that time. Unable to attend the services we drove up to Richmond, Vermont on Monday, October 26th. On a quiet mountain top, surrounded by tall majestic trees, there was no doubt which is Steve's resting place. The flowers with loving messages to Husband, Son, Brother, and Father lead us to him. As the gentle winds blew golden leaves we stood alone and prayed. His pain is gone, but his memory lives on. Tears were shed of our loss and God's gain of a great man, great builder, and an even greater friend. Again thank you for sharing Steve with us.
