"Rusty" was a friend when first we met…probably before kindergarten. He was a mainstay and cherished friend throughout my childhood. I probably spent as much time at the Johnson residence, as I did at my own. Hearing of his death, has taken away a part of my childhood, but his memory will always linger. Sending my condolences to the family and friends who loved him.

Mary Lynne, Elizabeth & Ben, I was deeply saddened to read of Russ's passing. I worked with him for several years as outside legal counsel to Digital. Russ was unfailingly thoughtful, wise, kind and just in his work and I counted him as not merely a trusted and valued colleague, but as a friend. I fondly remember his endearing voice and his positive energy. Your husband and father was a very fine man who did right by many people!

Dear Mary Lynne, Elizabeth and Ben, Your Father was a great man. He was so much fun, so caring, and so smart. In 2005 when he brought me to work with him at Devonshire. it led to a terrific 8 years there ending with 2 in London. Without his care, concern, thoughtfulness, and toughness I wouldn't have retired after 27 years there with such happy memories! You have my sincere condolences. Jim Wilson

Dear Johnson family, I am so sorry to hear of Russ's passing. Russ was a colleague of mine during his tenure at Fidelity. He was one of the most thoughtful and effective HR professionals I've ever had the pleasure of working with. More importantly, he was a good man and a friend. My deep condolences to his family. MaryLynne, Elizabeth & Ben, We have so many memories of the good times we shared with you all. I do not think we have ever seen Russ without his wonderful smile. One recent memory was of him sitting at Flint's Farm, ice cream cone in hand, simply enjoying the peace and great weather that day. No matter what the situation, Russ would always find the humor in it & was ever-ready for fun. Above all else the love and care he showered on his family spoke volumes. A gentle soul. Peace to you. Love, The Campisano's

So sad to hear. I send my deepest condolences to Mary Lynn. I have many great memories of Russ including a trip to Key West by car in college. I always looked up to Russ and am so thankful that I was able to see him again about 10 years ago through a chance meeting with his brother Kerry. I'm glad he was able to make it so long with his illness

My condolences to the family. Russ’ wit and humor at SUNY Plattsburgh has always stayed with me! Although I haven't seen Russ since college, I never forgot climbing Mount Marcy with Russ, Kurt De Long and Ageo Frizzera, and of course, our 1970 spring break trip to Key West!
