Camille was one of my students, as well as colleague, providing writing development support for students having difficulty completing writing assignments. I knew she was special from our first encounter with her in my class. In reciprocal roles as teacher and learner, I learned more from Camille than could ever teach her. In her role as a writing specialist, she was committed to helping each student progress at his or her own pace. She was kind, respectful, and caring, but firm in holding students accountable. These traits motivated many students who could not write a coherent paragraph to improve their writing skills significantly. Students that were often combative with faculty were calm when working with Camille. This was due to her gentle spirit and willingness to help every student to be the best writer that he or she could be. These are the things about Camille that I loved so much; I learned a great deal from her about managing situations. She touched so many lives. I hope that you can find comfort in knowing that her life had meaning to so many people beyond her immediate family members. I will miss her.
