Obituary

Dan M. Janik, 20, of Gaskill Street, Woonsocket, RI died Saturday, February 6, together with his fiancée, Amanda Lynn Villeneuve, and their daughter, Annabelle Christina Janik. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Tina (Baldelli) Janik of Woonsocket and Robert Janik. Dan had lived in Woonsocket for most of his life.

He attended the Henry Barnard School in Providence and Mercymount Country Day School in Cumberland, prior to graduating from Mount Saint Charles Academy in 2007. Dan was an outstanding athlete who played on several youth championship and all-star teams with the Cracovia Soccer League, the East Woonsocket Little League IBPO, and the basketball teams of the Woonsocket YMCA, the Cumberland-Lincoln Boys and Girls Club, and the Pawtucket Boys and Girls Club. He was a varsity player and captain for the Mount Saint Charles Boys’ Varsity basketball team. Dan was an avid and life-long fan of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dan cherished his family and was a true and loyal friend. He was a gentle soul who had a special place in his heart for animals. Dan was employed by the Woonsocket Housing Authority where he was a conscientious employee who had a special regard for the residents and his co-workers.

Annabelle’s birth was the most joyous moment of Dan’s life. His overwhelming love for her was evident to all who knew him and was the foundation on which he and Amanda were planning their lives together.

Besides his parents, Dan is survived by his sister, Toni Janik of Woonsocket, his maternal grandmother, Sandrina (Perrico) Baldelli of Woonsocket and Dan R. Baldelli, his paternal grandparents, Edmund and Mary (Fostakowski) Janik of Woonsocket. He is also survived by his uncle, Rocky Baldelli and his wife Michelle of Cumberland and their children, Rocco, Nicholas and Dante an aunt, Lisa Baldelli-Hunt and her husband Ed of Woonsocket and their children, Gary, Victor and Sam.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville Friday 3-8pm with a vigil at 6:00 pm. Please omit flowers. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dan M. Janik Animal Shelter Fund, c/o any Bank RI Branch.
