Barbara M. Hoppe of Surfside Beach, SC, formerly of Greenville, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 in South Carolina. She was the wife of Edward Hoppe.
She was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary (Conlon) Allen.
Barbara worked at Women & Infants in medical billing before retiring and moving to South Carolina. She enjoyed being in the presence of her children and grandchildren , making countless journeys to Rhode Island to dispense her wisdom, wit and mirth.
Barbara is survived by her children: Linda Placido of Smithfield, Cheryl Placido of Waterford, CT, Craig Placido and his wife, Maureen of Glocester, Barbara J. Placido and her husband Shaun Rock of Pomfret, CT, David Placido and his wife, Michelle of Smithfield, Pat Placido and his wife, Patricia of Danielson, CT and Carol Ann Derosier and her husband, Wayne of Smithfield, her stepchildren: Scott Hoppe of Burrillville and Edward Hoppe and his wife Lisa, of Scituate and her grandchildren: Kyle, Stephen, Brenden, Rachel, Jessica, Brittany, Ryan, Anthony, Owen, Samuel, Jennifer, Katherine and Craig. She was the mother of the late Steven and Thomas Placido and the former wife of the late Pasquale A. Placido, Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Siedzik of Smithfield and her brothers, Lloyd and Walter Allen, both of Cranston. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Allen of Spokane, Washington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Friday 4-7pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Michael’s Church Building Fund, 542 Cypress Avenue, Garden City, SC 29576.
