It was with sadness that I heard of Pauline’s passing from my parents today. She was a dear friend of our family since before I was born, and was a fixture in annual New Year’s and Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations. I remember her for patience, humour, and always having time to listen. I also will remember her elegance and sense of fashion, with bold accents that inspired me. Her cooking introduced me to a life-long love of Italian food, especially tiramisu. I’ve never quite had any as good as hers. My deepest condolences to Alex and her family and friends.

Pauline was a special lady and is a part of some of my fondest childhood memories, as my sister Tara has mentioned here as well. She was my sponsor for the sacrament of Confirmation, and I am deeply grateful to her for her loving help during that time. Pauline also inspired in me a love of Italian cooking and culture, and I am so glad to have had such a warm, kind, and generous friend. My thoughts, love and prayers are with Alex and Pauline’s family.
