One of my fondest memories of Tracy Lynn Brower is during a really hot summer. Uncle Bobby took the three of us to one of the largest watermelon patches known to man. We hoe’d weeds in the heat of the day, with a few clouds for shade. We decided to walk back to grandma's house as the day light began to fade carrying our tools with us... There's a long straight stretch of road before it turns towards the Creek and then to grandma's house at the corner was uncle George's place... We were walking that straight stretch and saw in the dimming light a straight line in the road far ahead of us. The road has tall grass along the side, I was starting at that stick and one of us commented maybe it wasn't a stick... Maybe a snake. (Nothing was more fearful to me than the thought of a cotton mouth... Between Grandpa and Uncle Bobby I was pretty terrified of them... At the time my understanding was once bitten you only had abt 30 minutes and Memphis hospital was 90 minutes away) As we continued or approach the light continued to fade... We went back and forth abt wether stick or snake.. Roger finally decided it was definitely a stick. All our eyes affixed on it for several minutes as we continued to walk. By some measure we all decided Roger was right cause he was the oldest and I felt calm. With less than a few feet to go It definitely seemed like a motionless stIck... Then IT MOVED! BAM! WE STARTED RUNNING AND SCREAMING AND RUNNING... We made the last stretch to Uncle George's place and round the corner up the hill to grandma's.... That was a fair run..I didn't feel safe till I got to grandma's porch. WHEW! We were young and great pals. I have many fond memories of our time together. We often talked of our belief in Jesus Christ and after a week of work and play went to services in that little white Church in Yalobusha that Grandpa Claude Hughes had a hand in establishing. All mortal issues aside Tracy is a good hearted as they come. When we stand upon the Lord’s rock doubt and fear are diminished. May the Lord's richest blessings be upon all who read and share this simple message.
