TAUNTON - Richard J. Carey, Jr., died Monday November 2, 2009, at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle against Pancreatic Cancer. He was 36 years of age and was the husband of Christine (Fitting) Carey. Rick was born in Stoughton, MA and was the son of the Richard Carey, Sr. of TN and the late Maria (Grande) Carey Lallemand. A 1992 graduate of the New York Military Academy, he was a member of the Department of Mental Health Police for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Rick enjoyed camping and was an avid music lover.
He leaves five children, Rebecca Carey, Caleb Scanlon, Madison Carey, Kaitlyn Kucinski and Brenna Kucinski. In addition he leaves behind six brothers and sisters, Tara Sousa of Taunton, Larissa Carrasquillo of Manomet, Sirena Cortes of Brockton, Mark Carey of TN, Jennifer Carey of FL and Taylor Thompson of Weymouth. He was stepson of Jacques Lallemand of Brockton, MA. He also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home Friday at 9:00 a.m., with a funeral Mass on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann’s Parish, 103 North Main Street, West Bridgewater. Burial will be at the Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.
