Obituary

Marilyn L. (Manning) Pigeon 79 years of Brockton died February 13, 2009 under hospice at Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife for 53 years of the late Arthur J. Pigeon. Marilyn was born in Brockton a daughter of the late J. Lester and M. Louise (Cross) Manning and remained a lifelong resident of the city. A 1947 graduate of Brockton High School she had worked at Burkes Answering Service for 20 years. She had also been a school bus driver in Easton.
Marilyn was extremely proud of her eight children and their close bonds and sense of family values and loyalty. She loved politics and was a former member of the Brockton Democratic City Committee and the Plymouth County Democratic League. She had been a member of St. Ann’s Church in W. Bridgewater.
She was the devoted mother of Maureen Pigeon; Denise M. Pigeon; Joseph P. Pigeon and his wife Jean all of Brockton; David Pigeon and his wife Peggy ; Ann M. Austin and her husband Richard both of Bridgewater; Michael A. Pigeon and his wife Thresa of Lakeville; John L. Pigeon and his wife Carol of W. Bridgewater; Claire L. Pigeon and her husband Michael Shelby of Brockton; and her loving dogs Sasha and Pidge. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She also leaves her devoted close friend Isabel Gormley of Bridgewater. She was the sister of the late Claire E. LaFratta.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 9 am. Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church West Bridgewater at 10 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm.
