Obituary

William A. Cribben, 85 years of Brockton died Friday September 28, 2007 at the Brockton VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was the husband for 54 years of the late Marjorie R. (McCabe) Cribben. Born in Brockton a son of the late Michael and Julia (Hunt) Cribben he remained a lifelong resident of the city. Following his graduation from Brockton High School in 1940 he entered the US Army and served in the European Theatre. Mr. Cribben retired from the Brockton Fire Department in the early 1980s after almost 40 years of service. He had earned his Associates Degree in Fire Science from Massasoit Community College. Before joining the Brockton department he had been a firefighter for the Hingham Arsenal. Mr. Cribben had also operated a part time business of television antenna installation and repair.
He was a member of the Brockton Firefighters Union, Local 144 and enjoyed bowling on their team. He also enjoyed gardening and Irish music and had been a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
He was the father of William A. Cribben and his wife Pam of Plymouth, Kathleen A. Cribben of Brockton and the late Dennis M. Cribben. He was the grandfather of Tessa and Brian Cribben, Aaron Pinnetti and Lauren and Adam Kesner. He was the brother of Harold T. Cribben of Brockton, Ralph M. of Plymouth, Richard M. of Lakeville, Mildred C. and Ellen M. Cribben both of Brockton and the late James, John, Gerald and Lawrence Cribben. He also leaves 3 generations of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
