Msgr. Lenny Coppenrath was to me an unforgettable example of what it means to be a compassionate, involved, caring human being. I am one of the ten chldren of John and Dorothy Kickham of Crowninshield Road, Brookline. We grew up literally feet away from St. Aidan's Church, a church that was part of our collective being as a family. My parents, and my late uncle Msgr. Robert T. Kickham, were very dear friends of Msgr. Coppenrath's - as were all my family. Unfortunately, from the very early '70's to 1979, when then-Fr. Coppenrath was appointed our Pastor, the life force of St. Aidan's as a parish, declined substantially - not so much in terms of attendance, as in terms of enjoyability, vibrancy, a sense of the rectory being a welcoming presence. That all changed the day that Fr. Coppenrath was appointed Pastor - and his return to St. Aidan's brought him back to where his vocation as a priest began, when he was appointed a young curate to St. Aidan's in the late 1950's. Msgr. Coppenrath literally brought that wonderful parish back to life: His hard work, his wonderful, engaging personality, his charity and his leadership were all gifts to so many in St. Aidan's. To me, Msgr. Coppenrath was not only my Pastor and a man I looked to for spiritual guidance in very trying times, but a personal friend. I am so very sad that he has left us. I will always miss him. I am a richer person for having known this wonderful man. My condolences to his brother and his nieces and nephews.

We loved dear Fr Coppenrath back in Wrentham where he revived the CYO and paid particular attention to the needs of the young.and everyone .Started the Couples Club for us Churchgoers and married us at St Mary's in Wrentham. He was the father I never had and a constant source of spiritual guidance. My daughter would help walk his dog Buffy when he needed our help. I am devastated but now he is at peace with our holy Father.

Dear Coppenrath family, Gen and I were saddened to hear of Msgr. Coppenrath's passing. He is fondly remembered from his time at The Parish of the Incarnation in Melrose/Saugus. He was a very good priest who was liked by everyone who met him. He was wonderful to our family when my mother died. I'm sure he is in heaven enjoying his just reward. RIP Fr. Coppenrath! Dear family Coppenrath and friends of our dear priest. I remember first meeting Father Coppenrath when he was a young curate at the Church of the Incarnation and I was a little girl. He had just rescued a fledgling robin and he gave me the baby bird and entrusted me to raise her and learn the lesson of compassion and empathy for all God's creatures. Fr.Coppenrath taught me what it is to pray and in all these 60 years later he's been present with me in my prayers. May this also be your consolation.

The world is a lesser place without Father Coppenraths presence. Words cannot speak to how good a man he was and how he made this world a better place. I first met Father Coppenrath in 1978 when he arrived at Saint Aidans church as the new pastor. I wish that I could rewind the clock. Thank you Monsignor Coppenrath for all that you have done for me and countless other people. I hope to be with you again, soon.

Brookline, Massachusetts,
There are so many lovely memories of Msgr Coppenrath. He was ordained in 1953 and was assigned to St, Aidan's as a young curate. When he left St. Aidan's he still kept in touch with our family. He returned to St. Aidan's as pastor and my mother was secretary there for 20 years until the church was closed in 1999. He was a kind and loving person to all parishioners and I am deeply saddened by his death. I am sure that he now is in the loving hands of God.
