I have very fond memories of Steve. First as my high school football mate, and then all through the years of bumping into him in downtown Boston while he was working. But most of all, when my father, also a Boston Police Officer, was ill, his words of kindness and concern were much appreciated. It is with the same concern I now have for Mary and the rest of the family, Stay strong. Fred Scopa

Dear Mary, Stephen and Jen, We are so sorry for your loss. Steve was a good guy and a great friend. A year and a half ago, we had a Dorchester reunion. I can remember calling Steve to encourage him to join us, say hello to old friends and swap stories from years gone by. It was a struggle to get him to say he would attend so I worked him over. He finally agreed to come to our reunion and I asked him to make a promise to show up, which he did. I knew he wasn't feeling well and I was sorry that I may have crossed the line. Nevertheless, on the night of the reunion, I looked up and there he was with you Mary, flashing that million dollar smile. Having not seen him for many years, I was so happy to see him and that will always be how I remember him. I will miss him. I wish all of you the best as you try to cope with your loss and pray for you to be strong in this very difficult time in your life. May Steve rest in peace. Sincerely, Neal and Ginny Santangelo
