My Deepest sympathy goes out to the Burns family, the following paragraph may comfort you with your loss :"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best." - Author Unknown

I worked with Paul for more than 20 years. He was a truly fine gentleman for whom I had great affection and admiration. He always had my back, and was never dishonest, mean or disrespectful. He was a great mentor to his staff and a good friend to all. Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is in deep mourning today.

I am heart is broken to hear the news of Paul's passing. Paul was my first Sergeant Training Officer at the Shattuck Hospital. Lieutenant Paul Burns was larger than life as a person and of course in his beloved community of West Roxbury. My prayers and sympathies go out to Paul Burns family during this tough and trying time. God Speed Lieutenant Paul Burns!!!

Dear Burns Family, What a wonderful person to have had the pleasure to know and work with. Every now and then we would have a good laugh enjoying a moment to remember. Paul had a glow and a wonderful disposition that shone down the hallways of Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. Always professional, helpful, and attentive to the needs of others he set a higher standard for others to follow. Paul is truly missed. A true gentleman and a colleague lost. Paul may you rest in Peace. An Irish Blessing: May you be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows you are...Bless you sir you are a true angel. With Sympathy, Myra Madigan/LSH/HIM

Paul, you are in my thoughts, you will be missed. To the Family, Paul had many family and friends here at the Shattuck and he will be sorely missed.

Donna, Tiffany and Jason - I am so sorry to hear about Paul. He was such a good-hearted person who really cared about his family. You were always the center of his life. I will never forget his kind words about my Dad and his tears which I could tell really came from deep in his heart. For such a strong man he also had that emotional side and we loved him for that.
