It was my great privilege to know Mrs. Brown through my friendship with Patricia and Tony. She was an amazing woman who encapsulated the strength, caring and fortitude that was the hallmark of her generation. In the words of an Irish song "she knew life hard and she knew life easy." When faced with the seemingly unbearable adversity of losing her husband and two children, she never lost sight of the anchors that grounded her and prevented her from being swept away in an ocean of despair - namely, Patricia, Betty, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and the other family members who adored her. My sympathy and that of my family are with all of those left behind to mourn her memory and to cherish her legacy.
