Dear Yupin, It's with extreme sadness that we send our condolences to you on Greg's passing. Greg's compassion and kindness shone through at every turn. Dedicated to the workers' movement, painstakingly fighting for what is just, Greg's work was remarkable. Through all of his labor, what was clear was his love for you and how much he depended on you. We send you our deepest sympathy and our love, Sandy and Wadi'h

Yupin, I was sorry to hear about Greg's Passing. He was a wonderfully compassionate man who I came to know and love through his activism with the Union. He had a wonderful empathy for those around him and brought his caring perspective to everyone he came in contact with. His passing is a loss for both the members of SEIU and the people he advocated for in the Rental Resource Center. I will miss his quirky E-mails and the Jokes and quotes he would share so often. I am sorry for your loss. Bill Corcoran

So sorry to hear about Gregg's passing. We all grew up together during the summers at GRB. I send my sincere sympathy to the King family. May you find comfort in all the wonderful memories you have of Gregg and may he live on in the hearts of all he touched.

This is really sad; the world has lost one of the truly caring and decent people who have graced it. I am just reading Greg's obit now, and wished I knew before so could have attended the service. I knew Greg when I worked doing tenant organizing in East Boston in the 1980s and 1990s. I brought many new immigrant tenants to the Rent Equity Board (later Rental Housing Resource Ctr when Boston lost rent control) to learn about and try to enforce legal and fair rents. Greg was always so attentive to them, so willing to listen to their situations, to help them understand the laws, to dive into their stories as much as share the information he had to offer. He made people feel like they mattered, like they were the center of world. He had such integrity, such a caring way with people. I also loved chatting Greg up about politics, as he was involved in deep, strategic thinking about social change, international and national organizing efforts, and a big vision of how to change the fundamental ills of society in the U.S. Greg was always so interesting on this front. Mostly because he was not some removed armchair leftist, but he really cared about people. He had his own loving relationships that were cross border, and he grounded his political thinking in how each person he knew was affected by larger forces - whether it was his wife (who he talked about all the time!!), those he knew abroad from his travels, or those displaced by war and neo-liberal economic policies who fled to the U.S. shores. I will miss Greg and the world will, too. I think of the activist/songwriter/union organizer Joe Hill, who before his death wrote words that remind me of the affect Greg's life had on so many of us - "Perhaps some fading flowers then Would come to life and bloom again."
