Hudson, MA
Modesto “Mack” Persico, 87, of Hudson, died on Saturday, March 28 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Thelma (Diatalevi) Persico of Hudson.
Born in Boston, son of the late Peter and Letizia (Bortolotti) Persico, he was a 1939 graduate of Hyde Park H.S. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Alabama and received the WWII Victory Medal, European-African Area Medal, American Area Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal (five stars) and Philippine Liberation Medal (two stars). He was employed as the Superintendent of the Country Squire Apartment Complex for many years until his retirement and resided in Hudson since 1972. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Paul Persico of Hudson, Peter Persico of North Carolina and Lisa Dearth of Groton. He is also survived by his sister, Oliva Farrell of Boston; two brothers, Adolph Persico of Boston, Frank Persico of Westwood; four grandchildren, Stephen and Kaitlyn Dearth, Edward and Eleanore Persico and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 30, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
