Obituary

Donald “Don” J. Troy, Sr, 75 of Hudson, formerly of Newton passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He joins his wife of fifty-one years, Margaret M. (Landry) Troy, who predeceased him on September 22, 2015.

Don is survived by his three children, Linda M. McCarthy and her husband James of Hudson, Donald J. Troy, Jr. and his wife Maxine of Newton and Kevin P. Troy and his wife Karen of Sudbury; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Erica, Marissa, Michele, Michael, Kristina, and Eduard; three great-grandchildren, Michaela, Aiden, and Bella; a brother, William Troy and a sister Peggy Troy. Don was predeceased by his parents, John A. and Barbara R. (Bishop) and three brothers, John, Richard, and Robert Troy.

Don was born on July 10, 1941 in Newton, MA, where he was raised, graduated from High School and lived most of his life. Don worked as an automotive and heavy equipment mechanic most of his career for several local companies including Radiant Fuel Company in Newton and Coombs Motor Company in Watertown before retiring due to health problems. Don later moved to Hudson where he has resided for the past 9 years.

Don was a lifelong avid Boston sports fan. He especially loved the Red Sox and Bruins. He was a natural handyman, who enjoyed woodworking and helping his family fixing and completing many projects in their homes. He also loved his cat “Oreo”. Don will be most remembered by his family as a loving and caring father and grandfather. He not only performed the duties of being an amazing grandfather, but Don also filled the role of grandmother to his grandchildren after his wife Margaret passed away; cooking and baking for them and showing them special care and love.

A calling hour will be held for Don from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Friday, June 30, 2017 at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St, Hudson, MA 01749. A funeral cortege will process from the funeral home to Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson, MA for a Graveside Committal Service following the calling hour.
