Rita H. (Walker) Benway, 89, of Hudson, died on Friday, Oct. 4th at Marlboro Hospital. She was the wife of 42 years to the late Joseph N. Benway who died in 1988.
Rita was born in Boston, daughter of the late Elmer and Hattie (Morel) Walker. She has been a longtime resident of Hudson. Rita spent 34 years as a housekeeper for Dr. Arthur Richer in Hudson until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosanna Mixter, wife of the late Joseph Mixter of Hudson and her sister, Camille LaBombard of Marlborough. She is also survived by her two loving grandchildren, Rosanna D. Mixter of Hudson, Scott Mixter of Westfield; her great grandson Jonathan Nelson Mixter and her longtime friend Shirley Sherman.
Family and friends may attend a calling hour on Monday, Oct. 7th from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a service and celebration of Rita’s life on Monday, Oct. 7th at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson.
