Obituary

WEBSTER - Arthur P. Cournoyer, Jr., 69, of East Main Street, died Tuesday, April 21, in Sandalwood Nursing & Rehab Center in Oxford.

He leaves his wife, Melora M. Dauksz-Cournoyer; 3 sons, Norman H. Cournoyer and his wife Marissa of Webster, and Gary P. Cournoyer and his wife Christine and Arthur P. Cournoyer III, all of Dudley; a daughter, Jacqueline I. Cournoyer of North Oxford; 5 siblings, David, Donald and Bernard Cournoyer, Annmarie Romanek and Candy Davis; 10 grandchildren; a brother-in-law and close friend, Mike Mahan; Arthur III’s former wife Jody of Webster; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister Claire Mahan in 2008.

He was born in Webster, a son of Arthur P. Cournoyer, Sr. and Gertrude E. (Clark) Cournoyer, and was a lifelong resident. He attended Saint Louis High School and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School.

Mr. Cournoyer first worked at Cliff’s Shell Station in the Hub. He then owned and operated Art’s Atlantic Station on East Main Street. He was employed by the Department of Public Works for the Town of Webster for 30 years, mostly as a sweeper operator. He retired in 2007.

He enjoyed the companionship of his dog Nine while he swept the streets. He also loved trips to Cape Cod, jogging and bike riding.

According to his wishes, no funeral services are planned. There are no calling hours. Donations in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
