Obituary

Helen Francis Dubois, a lifelong resident of Manchester ended her life’s journey on November 15 at Mount Carmel Nursing Home at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family. Helen lived her life guided by her deep faith and strong religious conviction she passed on to her loving family and close friends.
Helen was born in Manchester and was the daughter of Josephine (Sweeney) and James Hallahan and was the sister of Patricia Duhaime of Hooksett, NH. Helen was a graduate of West High School class of 1944. She earned her nursing degree at the Sacred Heart School of Nursing, graduating in 1947. Helen earned her BS at New England College in about 1985. Helen worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, Catholic Medical Center Veteran’s Hospital, Red Cross and The American Lung Association. Helen was a member of St Anthony’s Parish where she was a Eucharistic Minister. Her passion in life was to fight for equality, peace and justice in America. She worked to help establish immigrant relocation centers for families in the greater Manchester area. It was a custom for Helen and her dear friend, Mary Perry to attend the annual Martin Luther King March and the March on Washington to end the Vietnam War. Helen was known as a person of deep faith, exceptional kindness and compassion. She loved spending time with her family enjoying meals, holidays and vacations.
Helen is survived by a loving and grateful family that includes her husband of 64 years, William Dubois, three daughters: Diane Langley and husband David of Manchester, Maryanne O’Leary and husband Richard of Manchester, Christine Dubois of Manchester, her three sons William Dubois Jr and wife Nancy of Nashua, NH, John Dubois and wife Maureen of Hampton, NH, and Joseph Dubois and Robin O’Leary of Manchester, NH.
Helen leaves behind 20 grandchildren including Justin Langley, Jessica Couture, Katie and Stephen Laliberte, Brian, Kevin and Michael O’Leary, Matthew and Michael Dubois, Alison Bennett, Angela Gibney, Meghan and Meryl Shea, Sean, Ryan, Connor and Brendan Dubois, Evin, Issac and Andrew Dubois, as well as ten great grandchildren. Helen will be greatly missed by her family.
The Dubois Family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the many wonderful nurses and aids at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home that worked tirelessly caring for Helen as well as VNA Home Health and Hospice of Manchester. They helped provide care and support to her and Helen’s family during a long period of declining health.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, November 19, 2012 at St Anthony Church, 172 Belmont Street. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION OF MANCHESTER & SOUTHERN NH, 1070 Holt Ave Suite 1400, Manchester, NH 03109.
