William D. Borges, 85, of Dartmouth and Fort Pierce, FL, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the family home. He was the husband of the late Edith (Peets) Borges.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late William E. and Wilhelmina (Daniels) Borges, he was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. A veteran of WWII, Mr. Borges served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a machinist for Morse Cutting Tools Company of New Bedford. He enjoyed various outdoor activities including boating, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his 3 sons: Fred Stowell of Dartmouth; William D. Borges and his wife Jean of Westport and Henry W. Borges and his wife Dale of Dartmouth; his daughter: Brenda J. Paille of Westport; his sister: Lillian Breen of Acushnet; 8 grandchildren: Holly, Chapin, Nicolas, Benjamin, Jessica, Elise, Kyle and Seth; and 4 great grandchildren.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Memorial calling hours will be from 2-4 P.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
