W.D. “Brother” Morris, 65, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Crossview Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Morris was born November 5, 1944 in Fitzgerald to the late Travis W. and Annie Maude Wright Morris. He lived in Fitzgerald all of his life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1962. Mr. Morris was co-owner of Player & Morris Painting Contractors, a former employee of Rainbow Mfg., Souvenir and L.E. Harper Construction. He was a member of Crossview Baptist Church where he served on the Properties Committee. Mr. Morris served on the Northside Baptist Church building committee and was a member of the Fitzgerald High School Football Booster Club. He served in the Georgia National Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Shaula Morris; daughter: Rita Sims; son and daughter-in-law: Keith & Michelle Morris, all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Brad Satterfield, Andy (Dene) Satterfield, David Satterfield and Tristen Morris; niece: Deborah Waller Hullinger of Charlotte, NC. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Myra Waller.
