Obituary

Shirley Young Busbin, 66, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, November 4, 2013, at Regency Hospital in Macon.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, November 7, 2013, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rachel Fields and the Rev. Glen Fussell officiating. Interment will follow in the Englewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Busbin was born February 23, 1947, in Irwin County, Georgia to Bessie Mae Cooley Young and the late Willis Daniel Young. She had lived in Irwin and Ben Hill Counties most of her life and was a former resident of Albany. She was a former meat inspector at Lowell Packing Company and former inspector for The Champion Company and Irwin Manufacturing. Mrs. Busbin loved watching the Atlanta Braves, NASCAR and NCIS. She loved to dance and spend time with her friends at the Colony City Opry. She enjoyed eating at the Huddle House, fishing, and baking. Although she faced many struggles in her life, she will be remembered as a good wife, mama, and grandmother. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.

She is survived by her three daughters: Ann & Dale Fields, Carolyn & Jimmy Costa, and Rhonda Jenkins & Jonathon Muse, all of Fitzgerald; one son: Danny & Dareline Busbin of Tifton; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; her mother: Bessie Mae Young of Fitzgerald; siblings and their spouses: Brenda & Donald Hammack of Shellman, Donald & Diane Young of Fitzgerald, Wesley & Christine Young of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tommy Young, Johnny Young, and Bonnie McDuffie, all of Fitzgerald, and Sandy & Charles McCarty of Sylvester. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Busbin; a great-granddaughter: Evelyn Rose Brown; a brother: Jerry Young and a sister: Martha Faye Dorminy.
