Obituary

Arnold E. “Arnie” Comtois, 69, of Abbeville, died Friday, January 18, 2013 in Tifton.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Norman MacKenzie and Ralph Nault officiating. Jeff Clark will also speak. Interment will follow in the Sandy Ridge Cemetery in the Bowens Mill Community. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Comtois was born April 18, 1943 in Westfield, Vermont to the late Ernest William Joseph and Evelyn Ellen McAllister Comtois. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Newport, Vermont and received his Associate’s Degree in Business from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. Mr. Comtois served his country in the United States Army, having been stationed in West Point, New York during the Vietnam War era. He was owner/operator of Comtois Construction, specializing in remodeling and constructing residential dwellings and commercial buildings. He had lived in Abbeville for the past 9 years coming from Massachusetts. He was an active member of the Fitzgerald Home Church, where he enjoyed leading the music.

He is survived by his wife: Carole G. Comtois of Abbeville; two daughters and sons-in-law: Denise & Eric Cass of Abbeville and Kimberly & Robert Magistri of Feeding Hills, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren: Joshua Cass of Aviano Air Base, Italy, Hannah Cass of Cochran, Benjamin Cass, Samuel Cass, and Noah Cass, all of Abbeville, Justin Comtois, Rachael Magistri, and Matthew Magistri, all of Feeding Hills, Massachusetts; five brothers: Reginald & Diane Comtois of Milton, Vermont, Bernard & Rita Comtois of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Francis & Pauline Comtois of Dallas, North Carolina, Rene & Nancy Comtois of Independence, Missouri, and Maurice & Maryellen Comtois of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one sister: Yvette & Jean Bathalon of Irasburg, Vermont; one brother-in-law: Warren & Kristen Gagne of Essex Junction, Vermont; and one sister-in-law: Rhonda & Kris Johnson of York, South Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
