Carrie Jean Eldridge, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died March 25, 2012 at the Life Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 28, at Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Harris Johnson and the Rev. Danny Gay officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Eldridge was born October 24, 1925 in Douglas, Georgia to the late Ernest and Nollie Wooten Pridgen. She was a homemaker and lived in Fitzgerald most of her life. Mrs. Eldridge enjoyed sewing, quilting, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was an active member of Prospect Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a soloist who enjoyed singing in the choir.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen & Robert Wells of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Penny & Terry Turner, Sandy & Brian Phillips, Cindy & Chris Munroe and Stacy Wells; great grandchildren, Wayne Turner, Kelsey Turner, Emily Turner, Samantha Munroe, Elizabeth Munroe, Chloe Wells and Bailey Wells; sisters, Lois Young of Fitzgerald, Wilene Young of Wray and Chris Dixon of Douglas as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe M. Eldridge, a son, Larry Eldridge, four brothers and one sister.
