Donald Watson, 59, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, September 17, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Bro. John Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Turner Church Cemetery in Enigma. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Watson was born March 27, 1952 in Tift County to the late Roy C. and Marie Dillard Watson. He was raised in Irwin County and moved to Fitzgerald eight years ago from Berrien County. Mr. Watson was a former heavy equipment operator with Tift County Ben Hill County and Wilcox County road departments. He was a member of the Watson Motorcycle Club and enjoyed riding motorcycles with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed working with his hands, including woodworking, mechanics.
He is survived by his wife: Dinah S. Watson of Fitzgerald; children: Cheree Watson Miller of Fitzgerald, Tesa (Raymond) Barnes of Enigma, Wendy (Jeremy) Hunter of Lancaster, SC, Craig (Kay) Watson of Fitzgerald, Bubba (April) Watson of Enigma, Carolyn (Stacy) Griffin, T.J. Youngblood, Ryan Youngblood and Karlee Youngblood all of Fitzgerald; 11 grandchildren; sisters: Earnestine Cosper of Tifton, Shirley Averitt and Dwinnon (Carol) Miller all of Alapaha, Sue (Duck) Mitchell of Irwinville and Vicky (Mike) Tucker of Pace, FL; brother: Dale (Cindy) Watson of Ocilla as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Watson, brother, James Henry Watson and sister, Peggy Watson.
