Elaine D. Pollard, 74, of Mystic died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Asa W. Pollard. She was born in Norwich on September 10, 1939, the daughter of Dana H. and Edith L. (Wheeler) Dart. She graduated from Stonington High School.
Elaine worked for nine years at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Home, now Apple Rehab in Mystic. She is best known for her many years working as a Medical Assistant for pediatrician, Dr. Michael Blefeld. During that time, she got to know and care for many children and parents in the area.
Elaine was an active member of Union Baptist Church. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, and enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, knitting, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she is survived by daughter, Jeannine M. Elliott and her husband Charles, and son Dana T. Pollard all of Mystic; her two beloved grandchildren, Chase Elliott and Ryder Elliott, as well as sisters Elace D. Comrie and her husband Robert of Mystic and Dona Dart King and her husband Richard of Virginia.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by two children, Catherine Lynn Pollard and Steven Michael Pollard.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Saturday, November 23, at 11:00am in Elm Grove Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at Union Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
